During the procedure, doctors conduct continuous intra-operative neuro monitoring to track the functional state of the spinal cord, and also use additive 3D printing technology developed at the RSPC.
After a CT scan, we obtain a precise 3D-printed model of the deformed spine. We also print custom navigation templates, which allow us to insert transpedicular screws to stabilize the spine accurately and safely.
An additional advantage is the ability to pre-select the optimal screw insertion trajectory, which increases the reliability of the result. Experience has shown that these technologies significantly reduce surgical time, blood loss, and anesthetic burden on the patient.
